Free Concert Downtown: March 3!

Saturday, March 3

10 a.m.
Free
A special winter family concert series presented in partnership with Rush Hour Concerts
Each week in this three-part series, a new theme will introduce young music enthusiasts and their adult companions to basic musical concepts and help them get to know the woodwind family by solving The Mystery of the Missing Musical Clockon February 25, choosing a Quintet Idol winner on March 3, and playing Where in the World is Quintet Attacca? on March 10.
Families may attend all or choose one; then, after each concert, a special treasure hunt will be available for young guests to explore the museum. As space is limited, reservations are recommended.

Quintet Idol!

Quintet Idol brings the instruments of the wind quintet to life. Each instrument will perform a selection that features its most interesting qualities. The competitors’ pieces include “Flight of the Bumblebee” (flute), “Maple Leaf Rag” (clarinet), “Under the Earth” (oboe), “Roaring Fork” (horn), and “Danza” (bassoon). Competition will be fierce and may even include a playoff at the end! The program introduces kids to the highlights of each instrument so they will be ready to pick their favorite at the Quintet Idol competition. Who will be the winner? It’s up to the audience to decide.
